Abstract: Current energy conservation and emissions reduction strategies in iron and steel industry were reviewed. Since foundry industry is one of the major source of energy consumption and pollution emission (especially CO 2), issues concerning energy-saving and emission-reduction have been raised by governments and the industry.   Energy Foundry is a Chicago-based venture fund that invests in early-stage energy and clean-tech startups. The fund was started by a one-time $ million donation from two large energy utilities, ComEd and Ameren, and was created to encourage clean energy innovation.

an idea of the current energy consumption of the foundries, which can be compared with standard norms and can be used to implement deviation control methods. This paper also explores the various avenues for energy savings and cost control. Energy consumption studies in cast iron foundry Energy consumption pattern Experimental Study Energy. Seven Steps to Energy Efficiency for Foundries. Foundry is an energy intensive industry. Energy costs for foundries are around 15% of the cost of castings.

A foundry is a factory that produces metal castings. Metals are cast into shapes by melting them into a liquid, pouring the metal into a mold, and removing the mold material after the metal has solidified as it cools. The most common metals processed are aluminium and cast iron. She manages Energy Foundry’s investment deal flow and moves potential investments forward from the first introduction through due diligence to final investment. Additionally, she facilitates partnerships with incubators and accelerators, supports startups in Energy Foundry’s portfolio, and oversees marketing and data management activities.

Merchandise Mart, #, Chicago, IL   Steel industry presents one of the highest energy demand of all the industrial sector. Foundries have a really relevant role both in economical terms and as regards the energy demand. The cost of energy represents several percentage points of the overall costs of a foundry.

“Energy Foundry was formed taking into account this massive opportunity [of the energy industry] and the many hard lessons learned by others, including that you cannot simply take the web & digital venture capital model and apply it to energy,” Jason Blumberg, the fund’s CEO, explained.
